Product Description

BV-ELE-ENG-122

We love the Engwe M20. It looks very cool — and it’s a great performer too.

This is a Full-suspension electric cruiser bike designed for versatile riding. It’s a ton of fun and really turns heads. You’ll often get asked, “Where did you get that bike?”

With 250 watts of power, it is UK road legal.

The Engwe M20 can travel up to 92 miles range on a single charge (in dual-battery form). ( Takes around 5 hrs to charge from flat)

With a single battery, you can stretch the range to over 50 miles. You can still pedal beyond that, but it will be a bit harder.

The 4-inch wide fat tyres work great on roads and trails and are very tough, helping to prevent punctures.

It features a Shimano 7-speed gear system, reliable 160mm disc brakes, dual front headlights, and a single rear light.

Suitable for riders between 5ft 2in and 6ft 2in, it supports a maximum load of 120kg (Total including rider).

Note: This bike can be unlocked to 750 watts, making it legal only on private land. We do not recommend doing this.

Freqently Asked Questions

We’ve put together answers to the most common questions about our electric bikes and scooters. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

E-Bikes and the Law

Are your e-bikes road legal in the UK? Yes. All of our e-bikes meet the UK EAPC (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle) regulations:
Maximum motor output: 250W
Motor assistance cuts out at 15.5 mph (25 km/h)
Must be pedalled to engage motor assistance (with throttles restricted to walking speed without pedalling)
What is the minimum legal age to ride an e-bike? You must be at least 14 years old to ride an EAPC on UK roads.
Where can I ride an e-bike? You can ride anywhere a normal bicycle is permitted, including roads, cycle paths, and shared-use trails. You cannot ride on pavements unless marked as cycle routes.
What about privately-owned e-scooters? Currently, privately-owned e-scooters are not legal on public roads, pavements, or cycle lanes in the UK. They can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.

Orders, Delivery & Returns

How long does delivery take? Delivery typically takes between 3–7 working days, depending on stock levels and your location. We’ll provide tracking once your order has shipped.
Do you charge for delivery? Most orders qualify for free UK mainland delivery. Some remote areas or special items may incur a small charge (details at checkout).
Can I return my order? Yes. We offer a 14-day return window for unused items in their original packaging. Please see our Returns Policy for full details.
What if my bike arrives damaged or faulty? Contact us immediately with photos of the issue. We’ll arrange repair, replacement, or refund in line with our warranty and returns policy.

Warranty & Support

Generally, bikes come with a 1 year warranty which covers all the major parts. But not consumables such as tyres.  But please see each bike for more details.

Batteries & Charging

How far can I ride on a single charge? Range depends on the model, terrain, rider weight, and assist level. Most e-bikes in our range cover 25–60 miles per charge.
How long does charging take? Charging usually takes 4–6 hours with the supplied charger.
Can I replace the battery? Yes. All of our e-bikes use removable lithium-ion batteries that can be swapped or upgraded.

Maintenance & Repairs

Do I need to service my e-bike? Yes. Just like a regular bike, you should service it regularly to keep it safe and efficient. We recommend:
Basic check-up after 150 miles
Annual service for regular riders
Can I get my bike repaired at a local shop? Most bike shops can handle e-bike servicing. For electrical issues, it’s best to use an authorised service partner.

Payments & Finance

What payment methods do you accept? We accept major credit/debit cards, PayPal, and Klarna/finance options (where available).
Do you offer finance? Yes. You can spread the cost of your e-bike with monthly instalments. See checkout for details.

Other Questions

Do I need insurance or a licence for an e-bike? No. EAPCs do not require insurance, tax, or a driving licence in the UK.
Do I need to wear a helmet? Not legally, but we strongly recommend wearing a helmet and protective gear for your safety.
Can I test ride a bike before buying? Please contact us to see if we can arrange a demo or advise on local dealers/trails.

What people like

This moped-style electric vehicle is frequently praised for its unique cafe-racer aesthetic and its competitive pricing within the budget market. Riders appreciate the dual-battery configuration that provides exceptional range, making it suitable for long-distance cruising without the need for frequent recharging. The inclusion of a full suspension system and fat tires contributes to a stable and confidence-inspiring ride across diverse terrains, effectively soaking up bumps and road imperfections. However, its significant physical weight and entry-level components, such as mechanical brakes, are common points of criticism among expert reviewers. While it excels as a throttle-based cruiser, the fixed seat height and frame geometry often make manual pedaling a secondary and sometimes awkward experience for many users.

Pros

  • Exceptional Range Potential: The optional dual-battery system allows for significantly longer trips and more distance compared to standard single-battery alternatives.
  • Stylish Design Aesthetic: Its vintage motorcycle and cafe-racer look stands out from traditional designs and receives high marks for its visual appeal and "cool" factor.
  • Full Suspension Comfort: The combination of front and rear shock absorbers with fat tires ensures a smooth and comfortable ride over varied terrain and urban obstacles.
  • Great Value Proposition: It delivers high-end features like a powerful motor and integrated dual headlights at a much lower price point than many premium competitors.
